Job Description
We're Hiring a part-time Payroll Specialist.
Position Summary:
We’re seeking a part-time Payroll Specialist to join our team to implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manages payroll execution on a bi-weekly basis for active employees and on a monthly basis for retired employees.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Applies for SIT and SUI taxes when an employee is hired in or moves to a new state.
  • Reviews quarterly and year-end payroll reports and reconciles with Ceridian tax filings.
  • Responsible for timely and professional resolution of any payroll related queries.
  • Maintains relevant payroll documentation including Standard Operating Procedures for the payroll process.
Skills/Abilities:
  • Exceptional mathematical and calculation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Extensive knowledge of administering multi-state payroll.
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Experience working with Ceridian payroll software preferred.
  • 3-5 years of payroll, garnishments, and benefits distribution.
  • Highly organized with strong multitasking abilities; ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
