Job Description
Our partner is looking for a Payroll Specialist in Anchorage, AK. The Payroll Specialist performs advanced and complex activities related to the daily administration of payroll processing functions in accordance with company guidelines and policies. Responsibilities include checking and auditing timekeeping records, maintaining time and attendance records, entering new hires into the payroll system, posting changes in pay and tax status, and handling miscellaneous changes.
Responsibilities:
  • Reconcile and ensure accuracy of payroll and employee payroll information.
  • Respond to urgent requests and/or emergency payroll transactions from managers and/or employees.
  • Work closely with other personnel to provide consistent and positive public and client views of the company.
  • Ensure consistent and uninterrupted payroll functions.
  • Verify timesheet coding to comply with the company coding structure.
  • Input payroll data into the accounting system, compute wages, and prepare and issue weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll.
  • Verify signature information before processing timesheets.
  • Compile and verify payroll data such as payroll taxes, benefits, annual leave/holidays, insurances, and other deductions.
  • Print payroll reports to verify entries.
  • Provide historical data for authorized requests.
  • Provide payroll data to support external audits, such as workers' compensation and DCAA, and interact with auditors as required.
  • Review changes and update master employee records in conjunction with HR.
  • Verify all payroll-related contract information is properly set up for processing and complies with state and federal agencies' requirements.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll-related issues.
  • Review, research, analyze, and resolve moderately complex issues raised by auditors.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in payroll processing in a multi-company environment or equivalent related experience.
  • Ability to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions.
  • Work Environment:
  • The job is based in a general office environment. Some travel may be required based on business demands.
  • This position may direct designated staff in daily tasks such as data entry and payroll filing.
  • Excellent attention to detail and extensive knowledge of payroll functions.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting office practices, including proficiency in computer software programs such as Word and Excel.
