SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
: Incumbent performs all functions required to process payroll in the Kronos system, for the Assistant Superintendent North, SE Division area of responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must be proficient in MS office suite (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and Kronos payroll system.
  • Must be able to maintain confidential matters.
  • Incumbent performs all functions required to process payroll in the Kronos system, for the Assistant Superintendent North, SE Division area of responsibility.
  • Must comply with Amtrak’s Standards of Excellence, Safety Rules, national Attendance Policy for Agreement Covered Employees, in addition to all other Amtrak policies and procedures.
  • Respond to written, email, and oral communications concerning employee payroll requests.
  • Knowledge of TCU contract for verification of employee entitlements is required. Maintain logs (sick, vacation, etc.) for all agreement employees.
  • Must be able to work in high pressure environment while meeting time constraints.
  • Maintain employee vacation Outlook calendars, receive, and prepare all vacation/personal day requests for approval by management prior to processing.
  • Must complete authorization for destruction of records in accordance with records management policy, and other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for research and correction of payroll issues in a timely fashion. Must assist employees with direct deposit and tax forms.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successfully pass a Microsoft Word and Excel test.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED

COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Self-motivated and have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Satisfactory work record, strong verbal communication skills, strong command of English language and ability to communicate well with all field personnel, levels of management and outside agencies


The hourly range is $ 24.26-$32.35 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment). If an applicant/employee refuses to provide written consent for Amtrak to obtain these records, the individual will not be permitted to perform safety-sensitive functions.


In accordance with federal law governing security checks of covered individuals for providers of public transportation (Title 6 U.S.C. §1143), Amtrak is required to screen applicants for any permanent or interim disqualifying criminal offenses.
