Are you passionate about helping patients and providing an exceptional patient experience? We're seeking a Patient Scheduling Coordinator to join our team! As a Patient Scheduling Coordinator, you'll play a critical role in ensuring our patients and consumers receive top-quality care by coordinating their encounters and scheduling appointments with our healthcare providers.
Responsibilities
Schedule appointments for patients via phone or in-person, including testing, procedures, and clinician appointments
Coordinate advanced scheduling visit types for physicians, APCs, resources, and technicians
Validate patient demographics and ensure accuracy in scheduling
Use online tools to verify patient eligibility and insurance coverage
Provide exceptional patient experience by rounding with patients and communicating delays
Use your insurance contract knowledge to guide informed dialogue with patients and their representatives regarding in-network coverages
Set patient expectations regarding prior authorizations, referrals, and out-of-pocket expenses
Instruct patients on the Release of Information process and ensure a fully completed ROI form is submitted to Health Information Management for incoming or outgoing records
Formulate complete and accurate telephone encounter messages and route them to the appropriate Epic in-basket pool to support operational aspects of patient care
Participate in metric goals for telephone performance metrics, TSF, and abandonment rate
Respond quickly to patients showing distress and assist the clinical team as directed
Keep scheduling areas, waiting areas, and walkways clean, clear, and safe
Perform assigned patient care responsibilities, which may include appointment reminder calls and rescheduling
Attend staff meetings, employee forums, and quarterly MSO meetings
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
A minimum of nine (9) months of work experience in an office, healthcare, or customer service environment is required
Must pass EPIC competency for Registration at completion of Epic Clerical Training class
Excellent customer service skills and ability to provide exceptional patient experience
Ability to manage conflict and appropriately request help from a supervisor when needed
Familiarity with insurance contracts and ability to use tools to respond to provider network questions
Annual competency completion of Clerical Staff during a Code Blue
