PATIENT CARE TECH - DIALYSIS

The dialysis PCT will demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe dialysis care based on physical, psychological, educational, as appropriate for the adult and geriatric ESRD patients. Under the direct supervision of Registered Nurse, the dialysis PCT Initiates and terminates dialysis treatments and monitors patient condition during their treatments. Requirements:

• Recent (3+years) Dialysis Tech experience
• Certification as a Dialysis Tech required.

Responsibilities:

• Knowledge of the artificial kidney machine, dialyzer, wheelchair, blood pressure cuffs.
• The dialysis PCT will assist with the maintenance and stocking of dialysis supplies.
• Transports heavy equipment to and from patient care area.
• The dialysis PCT will be proficient in the daily monitoring and operation of the Dialysis machines to include cleaning and disinfecting.
• The dialysis PCT will also be proficient in the operations of the water treatment system including the scheduling of monthly PM and daily collection and testing of required water samples.
• Able to take and assess patient vital signs.

Credentials - Essential:

• BLS - Basic Life Saving certification

Competencies and skills - Essential:

• Knowledge and Experience with Electronic Health Records
• Clear Communication Skills both Written and Verbal
• Has Skills to Provide Customer Service to Patients, Team Members and Visitors
• Able to Withstand Crisis Situations
• Able to Keep Confidential Information Regarding Patients, Team Members

Education - Essential:

• High school graduate or equivalent
