Patient Care Assistant- H2B Picu (Days)

• 30 beds
• Patient safety is especially important in the PICU where patients are at increased risk for infection.
• We treat complex patients such as traumas, burns, respiratory, surgical, hematology/oncology, renal, neurology, and medical conditions.
• Research- Physicians have made breakthrough discoveries; One of the only centers in North America.
• H2B PICU provides multidisciplinary care for all ages from infants to young adults - High acuity, critically ill patients.
• We are one team of caregivers working together with the family to provide the best possible care to our patients and families.
• Works with all other units at NCH.
• Transplant patients- chronic pancreatitis, liver, renal.

• Identifies learning needs and attends continuing education as appropriate. Participates in educational activities offered by the business unit. Acts as a preceptor of orientation and training of other PCA staff.
• Remains compliant with HIPAA, maintains professionalism and ensures confidentiality of patient information.
• Collects, documents, and reports vital signs such as: blood pressure or mean arterial pressure, heights, and weights. Completes screening questions and documents all items into medical record.
• Performs clerical office coordination and administrative tasks as necessary.
• Promotes general patient safety and performs minor specimen testing. Holds, positions patients and assists with procedures. Preps all materials and supplies as needed.
• Ensures environmental standards are met and all clinic and patient areas are stocked, cleaned, and maintained.

Education:
High school graduate or equivalent.

• Basic Life Support Certification required upon hire.
