Passenger Assistant 16.25 hours per week (Term Time Only) £7,561 to £7,697 North Dorset Area What's in it for you:

If you live in the North Dorset area, Dorset Travel have opportunities for Passenger Assistants supporting young people with special education needs working during school term time for 38 weeks a year. You should be available between approximately 0700 and 09:30 and 14:30 and 17:00 Monday to Friday.

Comprehensive training will be given to allow you to undertake the passenger assistant role. You will be liaising with staff at the school and Dorset Travel to ensure the safe and happy transportation of the the young person or persons that are within your responsibility.

What You Will Be Doing

You will provide support to young people on school transport which may sometimes involve additional medical training.

About You

You should be a caring and patient person with a good standard of personal fitness. You should be able to communicate effectively by text, email and telephone and have your own personal and confidential email address to allow communication with Dorset Travel.

Additional Information

A DBS check will be done for the successful candidate. There is no need for a driving licence as you are normally collected from and dropped at your home address by the school transport driver.

This post involves working with children and/or vulnerable adults and/or having access to significant information about them. It will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check. See our policy on the employment of ex-offenders .

A full Adults and Childrens DBS check is undertaken for the successful candidate.

Full training is given by Dorset Travel to allow you to undertake the role of passenger assistant.

There is sometimes a need to undertake medical training to support a child's welfare needs on school transport.

We Base The Pro-rata Salary On

• Paid annual leave entitlement for an employee under 5 years’ service
• The number of hours
• The number of weeks worked

In the first year of service this salary may need to be adjusted to ensure you are paid accurately to reflect your holiday entitlement. A similar adjustment may be made at the point your employment ends to ensure that you are paid accurately for the number of days worked in any academic year.

This role is UK based and we will need to establish your Right to Work as part of the appointment process.
