Summary

Cares and attends to animals.

Essential Functions

• Clean and disinfect cages, pens, and yards and sterilizes equipment;
• Performs related duties as required.
• Keep all work spaces tidy & free of debris;
• Help citizens with questions/concerns & adoption process;
• Record information according to instructions;
• Transfers animals between quarters;
• Examine animals for signs of illness and notate on vet list;
• Feed and water animals as needed;

Qualifications

Graduation from high school or equivalent with an additionalone year experience attending animals or any combination of experience andeducation that provides the following:

Valid Current Driver's License

Physical Exam Required

Knowledge and Abilities

Ability to

• Work with animals;
• Communicate effectively with others
• Deal effectively with the public;
• Operate the following equipment: catch pole, hose, squeegee, mop, broom;
• Handle unpredictable animals;

Physical Requirements

• Reach at and below shoulder height.
• Frequently flex upper trunk forward and at the waist and partially flexing of knees;
• Continuously lift and carry up to 25 pounds;
• Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds;
• Frequently bend and kneel in order to pick up animals and clean pens on the ground;
• Continuously walk and/or stand during the shift;
• Climb ladders or stairs;
• Push and pull objects for instance dogs attached to a catch pole or leash;
