Statement Of Job


The Osher School of Music at the University of Southern Maine invites applications for Part-Time Artist Faculty in Classical Saxophone.


The successful candidate will teach applied saxophone lessons, attend juries, and assist in maintaining and expanding an outstanding woodwinds program. Additional opportunities include coaching chamber music and other coursework as the needs of the Osher School of Music intersect with the candidate’s areas of expertise.


In addition, the position will coordinate with the Director of Bands and Director of the Osher School of Music. Performing opportunities through the faculty concert series and other collaborations are available for additional compensation.


This position is posted concurrently with a position for Jazz Saxophone. Candidates who are well-qualified are encouraged to apply for both positions.


Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit-hour basis based on prior teaching experience. In addition, USM employees can use their USM Card to access the library, Cigna Employee Assistance Plan, and fitness center(s). USM also offers part-time faculty the opportunity for development frequently through our Center for Collaboration and Development (CCD) and the chance to get an online teaching certification and training through CTEL, in addition to other developmental opportunities open to all staff throughout the year.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Music; Master’s degree is preferred but not required.
  • Outstanding qualifications as a performer and teacher.
