Work Arrangement:
Position requires an employee to be onsite on a full-time basis.
The Role:
Factory ZERO is our first, all-electric automotive assembly plant and the blueprint of General Motors' electric future! We have a corporate vision of “Zero crashes, Zero emissions, Zero congestion.” Our most novel products like the Hummer EV and our very first autonomous vehicle, Cruise Origin will be assembled right in this facility. This requires us to employ the most upbeat, capable, and innovative talent to ensure we meet the challenges of developing the new manufacturing processes required to assemble these outstanding products!
The Paint Shop Business Manager will be in charge of leading all aspects of department staff including onboarding, training, and labor movement. This job requires cross-functional communication with production, maintenance, and shop committee(s). This person has ability to work in fast-paced environments, using their independent judgement to make decisions that reflect what is best for the business.
What You’ll Do:
- Supports CIP workshops in the areas of SPQRCE.
- Support unit manager to resolve workforce issues in conjunction with union.
- Leads daily workforce within the department
- Leads all aspects of KRONO's (timekeeping) for responsible area
- Supports department floor operations and safety culture through audits, observation, and incident investigation.
- Lead production supervisors
- Must be willing to rotate shifts and be available to work overtime including weekends
- CAP development and discussion with direct reports
- Supports department problem solving initiatives
- Strong knowledge of Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS)
Additional
Your Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient with MS Office applications
- Knowledge of quality control procedures, manufacturing processes, and management systems as they relate to production operations
- Minimum 3 years proven experience in Manufacturing/Assembly Plant
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or equivalent experience
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge:
- Production group leader experience
- Paint/Body Shop experience highly preferred
- 5 or more years of demonstrated ability to understand automotive manufacturing/assembly plant processes
- Experience/knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS)
