Job Title: Packaging Engineer
Location: Remote
Duration: 10 months
Shift: 20-25 hours per week
This is an ITQ Dynamic Talent position for a part-time experienced packaging engineer who is available to work 20-25 hours/wk for a 10-month assignment on our Meals and Baking Solutions team. At the conclusion of this assignment, talent may remain on the Dynamic Talent Bench indefinitely and have the option of taking on other part-time, flexible packaging assignments across our ITQ portfolio of products. This assignment is remote eligible with a preference for local talent in the Twin Cities, MN area. Personal technology will be used for this assignment.
Job Summary:
The Packaging Engineer will be a part of a fully integrated cross-functional team, working closely with R&D Platforms, Sourcing, Quality, Engineering, Marketing and Operations. The team is responsible for identifying top opportunities for Holistic Margin Management (HMM) and innovation and advancing those priorities. The role is very focused on successfully delivering against key development projects, generating a pipeline of new ideas and supporting key system needs at our production facilities while maintaining high quality standards for our materials.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging or related field
• 3-5 years of Engineering experience
• Solid understanding of product commercialization process from packaging design to manufacturing
• Demonstrated expertise in application of process engineering solutions that apply to consumer-packaged goods
• Experience creating technical packaging drawings
• Experience with working on team projects at corporate and plant level, and with engineering firms, vendors and contractors
• Good interpersonal and communication skills required to effectively network face-to-face with business teams
• Self-directed, motivated and good time management
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, Office 365, SharePoint, TOPS
Key Accountabilities:
• Build strong relationships with key businesses and platform partners in order to support new product launches and other key intiatives
• Proactively lead collaboration with cross-functional partners to develop margin improvement and technical innovation opportunities
• Conduct and/or manage supplier experiments, trials, and analyses to validate and advance technical packaging opportunities
• Build internal and external networks, relationships and understanding of internal and external customer needs to effectively influence and gain support for initiatives
• Effectively partner with supplier resources against key initiatives, showing a bias for results
• Provide effective communication and documentation of work including technical plans, specification creation/modification, experimental reports, financial analysis, and management updates
• Build and leverage technical depth of technical material knowledge to drive innovation and margin improvements
• Collaborate and influence both internally and externally
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in the manufacturing industry, food industry, or related field
• Experience in Interspec or a similar Product Lifecycle Management system
• Local talent to Minneapolis/St. Paul.
