Position Description
The Office of Equity and Human Rights is looking for an experienced Outreach Specialist to ensure that the objectives of the City of Tacoma’s Equity and Empowerment Framework related to meaningful community engagement, and Resolution 40622 related to becoming an Anti-Racist Tacoma are successfully achieved.
Under the guidance and leadership of the Chief Equity Officer and Human Rights Manager, the Outreach Specialist will be responsible for the development and implementation of a consistent and sustainable model of community outreach and education related to the City of Tacoma’s Fair Housing programs as well as other initiatives in the Office of Equity and Human Rights.
Essential Duties include:
- Creation of standard OEHR engagement and outreach guidelines, aligned with City-wide engagement and outreach guidelines.
- Identify and create implementation plans for promising practices for engagement with measurable outcomes.
- Collect data and analyze the effectiveness of proposed strategies to include performance reporting to federal agencies, City Manager and City Council.
- Work with community organizations to identify and understand engagement needs and develop department level strategies consistent with findings.
- Development of a comprehensive Fair Housing education and engagement strategy.
