Position Description:
Position: OSP Engineer
Location: Athens, TX (Remote with some traveling)
Duration: Full-Time Monday-Friday
This is a remote position, but you will be required to travel into the field and office as needed so you must be located within a 2-hour distance from the Athens/Palestine area.

SQUAN has exciting opportunities available! We are seeking an experienced OSP Engineer to grow in their career. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. You will be working remotely, but you will also be required to travel into the field and office as needed. You may also be required to stay overnight occasionally. You must be comfortable using your own vehicle to travel into the field and office. You will receive per diem and mileage for any travel.
You will be working on BAU projects, as well as Lumen/Bright Speed projects. You will also be assisting with BAU, Enterprise, and Obligatory workload.
We are looking for someone who has experience with general telecom engineering practices as well as someone who has recent experience with AutoCAD within the telecom environment.
Responsibilities
Perform local site visits (around the Athens/Palestine area) to perform BAU functions
Utilize AutoCAD and/or other client-proprietary mapping software to create and edit telecom plant designs, schematics, permit drawings, and any other CAD drawings or records as required per client projects
Apply best practices to assign fiber counts
Ability to read and extract ROW maps
Familiarity in permitting requirements for state and local agencies
Traveling into the field and office as needed based on client and project needs
Working remotely when not traveling into the field or office
Requirements:
Recent experience working as an OSP Engineer (within the last 2 years)
Recent experience in the telecommunications industry (within the last 2 years)
Experience with road moves
Recent experience with BAU work (i.e., services orders, ethernet, cable cuts, etc.)
Experience working on Lumen and/or Bright speed projects
2+ years of recent experience utilizing AutoCAD to create telecom fiber designs
Experience working with copper
Proficient in Windows operating system environment with working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Experience utilizing client-specific systems and/or other design software is a plus
