Summary
The orthopedic trauma physician assistant is an integral part of the orthopedic team at CFVH. This position provides assistance to the ten practicing orthopedic surgeons. Responsibility includes admissions, discharges, floor consults, emergency department consults, and OR assistance if needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Graduate of either an accredited (ARC-PA) Physician Assistant program or a graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Master’s or Doctoral Program. Valid National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification or Nurse Practitioner licensure with prescriptive authority.
Minimal 1 year experience in inpatient medicine, emergency medicine, or orthopedics.
Ability to be flexible and work analytically in a problem-solving environment. Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills. Ability to learn new skills, grasp new concepts and make rational decisions. Must be able to effectively communicate with attending physician.
Must be able to see and read reports, enter data, and work with EMR. Requires mobility to work with patients, staff, and leadership throughout the facility.
