Dermatology
The Department of Dermatology within the School of Medicine is seeking a Speciality Care Nurse Practitioner or a Speciality Care Physician Assistant to join our growing team.
The Department of Dermatology cares for patients at five locations in University of Missouri Health Care Hospitals and Clinics and we care for our veterans at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital while providing care and services in the Jefferson City, MO community. We also have been conducting teledermatology clinics in rural, underserved areas of Missouri for more than 20 years.
We have beautiful facilities, a strong and diverse faculty, and staff, and a comprehensive dermatopathology service.
The Dermatology APP (Advanced Practice Provider) is a valued member of our care team. The APP will work under the supervision of the physician team and will be responsible for providing excellent comprehensive care for patients with general dermatology needs.
The APP contributes to excellence in patient care, research, and teaching while providing leadership to the organization and the profession.
The primary responsibility is the management of patient care within the MUHC market region in the communities of Columbia and Jefferson City, MO locations
Duties and Responsibilities include providing direct care to patients through the following activities:
1. Take comprehensive history and performs physical examinations.
2. Evaluate and treat on the basis of history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice protocols and collaborative scope of practice agreement.
3. Perform the dermatologic procedures in accordance with procedural privileges, skill and proficiency as approved by the Department Chair and /or Supervising physician.
4. Initiate referrals to other health care providers, and/or consult with the attending physician or collaborating physician.
5. Document and bill for direct care provided.
6. Utilize current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice.
7. Perform and participate in quality/performance improvement activities.
8. Participate in and support accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization.
9. Demonstrate responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education.
10. Potential to precept other advanced practice providers; and facilitate the learning of other new team members.
Salary
Salary Range:$90,251-$147,285 Annually
Grade: PAT-012
University Title: Nurse Practitioner Specialty Care or Physician Assistant Specialty Care

Shift
Monday - Friday, 8a-5p, with potential for additional clinic hours as business needs change.
Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Nurse Practitioner Specialty Care:
Education:
Master's degree is required.
Required Licensure or Certification:
Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
May possess a specialty certificate by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB), the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), the Pediatric Certification Nursing Board (PCNB), and the National Certification Corporation (NCC).
Licensure as a registered professional nurse in the State of Missouri and must be granted “Document of Recognition” as a certified nurse practitioner from the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
Experience:
For Emergency Medicine positions: A minimum of two years’ experience as a nurse practitioner in an acute care area in an emergency medicine setting.
Physican Assistant Specialty Care:
Education:
Master’s degree required.
Required Licensure or Certification:
Graduation from an American Medical Association (AMA) accredited physician assistant program.
May possess a specialty certificate by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Nephrology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Pediatrics or Psychiatry. Possession of a current Missouri license to practice as a licensed Physician Assistant is required.
Experience:
For Emergency Medicine positions: A minimum of two years’ experience as a physician assistant in an acute care area or completion of post-graduate PA residency/fellowship in an emergency medicine setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in Dermatology.
