ManTech is seeking a skilled and innovative Optical Microscopy Technician to work in its analytical laboratories located in Sunol, CA. The laboratories perform materials characterization and related analytical services on commercial and government contracts. The activities of the group include isotopic, chemical and elemental analysis of materials on a production basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform polarized light and stereo microscopy of material isolated from customer supplied samples.
  • Use special micromanipulation techniques and tools to handle samples and load for other analytical instruments.
  • Assist with routine instrument and general laboratory maintenance.
  • Carry out the cataloging and storage of samples.
  • Assist with quality assurance and performance improvement activities (ISO/IEC 17025:2017)
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Keep meticulous records of samples and analyses.

Primary Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of relevant laboratory experience with polarized light microscopy (PLM)
  • AS or BS degree in physical or chemical science or engineering

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must have exceptional aptitude for details, including accurate record keeping.
  • Must be familiar with and adhere to safe laboratory procedures.
  • Be familiar with contamination control procedures.
  • Detail oriented, organized.
  • Able to manage time effectively.
  • Sufficient physical dexterity to perform micromanipulation tasks required to handle small samples.
  • Proficient with image acquisition and processing, and laboratory data management (word processing, spreadsheets, databases)
  • Able to work independently or in a team environment.

Sedentary:

  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office.
  • The person in this position will need to be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

U.S. Citizenship is required for all positions with the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.

The projected compensation range for this position is $77,000-$120,000. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories. In addition, ManTech invests in it’s employees beyond just compensation.
