Optical-related experience strongly preferred (ABO, NCLE)* *ABO or NCLE will be required within eighteen (18) months of full-time employment

Seek advice from more senior staff as necessary; never performing beyond capabilities.

Starting Base Pay: $17.00 per hour with consideration for lab experience

Career pathing, internal internships (i.e. finance, marketing, HR, etc.) and other development opportunities

Shift: Monday - Friday ; 10:00 AM until 6:30 PM

Calibrations and operations of all equipment.

Effectively identify and address work flow and quality issues.

They will also be responsible to perform tech 1 or secondary job functions in their department as needed

3 - 5 years of opto-mechanical and optical assembly experience

Ability to work independently, strong attention to detail, and good written/verbal communication skills

U.S. Citizenship is a requirement for employment

Knowledge of optical and electrical test equipment

Experience in the manufacture of tight tolerance, complex geometry precision products, particularly within an aerospace or medical component machine shop

Experience polishing optical components using computer polishers

Experience operating single point diamond turning machines

Experience grinding and polishing various types of metals or glass to tight surface figure, surface quality and surface finish tolerances

Experience measuring surface figures using interferometry

Analytical and problem-solving skills; able to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a quick, effective manner

Provide input and conduct tests plans consistent with product requirements

Maintain high standard of quality and apply skills consistent with operating procedures and standards

Prior or current experience with assembly, dissasembly, and test of mechanical, electro-mechanical, or optical equipment

Desirable but not required to have Class 3 soldering skills on small complex circuit boards

Desirable but not required to have experience working with free space optics and fiber optics in laboratory settings

Assemble small optical, electrical, mechanical assemblies

1+ years of experience with hand or power tools

Excellent communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skills

Occupational trade school qualification in an electrical based field

Experience setting up and running high-pressure equipment and tests

Proficient soldering skills, handling small parts, operating CNS based automated equipment, microscope measurement

Demonstrable hands-on skill in fault finding and problem resolution

5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or test operations (includes military training in assembly/testing processes).

Experience in fiber splicing and connector attachment for all types of optical fiber using both hand and automated tooling.

Diagnose the cause of malfunctions and make necessary adjustments, as well as helping personnel in lower related job classifications.

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

Individuals with a current Secret Clearance is desired.

Associates degree in Electronics or equivalent.

Education: BS Degree (Engineering, Engineering Technology, Chemical) or equivalent experience. Degree not required, willing to consider manufacturing/technical experience too.

Manufacturing Internship or Co-Op experience

Assemble and test complex mechanical/electrical systems in a cleanroom environment.

Support process improvements, engineering testing, lean initiatives and quality improvements.

Lean Manufacturing Training (ie. Intro to Lean, 5S, Kaizen, VSM, etc.) preferred

Operation and basic maintenance of various lens edging machines and lens blocking devices prior to actual lens edging and final insertion

Calibration of edgers for accurate lens to frame/bevel sizing

Ensure that lenses are correct size, shape and fit into frame

Ensure that any special beveling needs are met for each individual Rx

Ensure lenses were properly decentered and blocked prior to edging

Preferred past optical experience or optician license

Minimum 2 years of experience in an optical setting

Demonstrated good problem-solving skills; sound judgment

Provides prompt optical support; promotes a smooth patient flow; collects and records data accurately; maintains order of optical and vision supplies

Consistently and openly communicates with supervisor and all staff.

Works flexible or extended hours where necessary.
