Be a part of helping people live healthy lives as our new Manufacturing Operations Supervisor- 2nd Shift (Challenger). 2nd shift- 2pm-10pm Monday- Friday SUMMARY This position is responsible for the direction, supervision, and accountability of 2nd shift Manufacturing Department activities including personnel, facilities, equipment, budgets, capital expenditures, safety, scheduling, capacity utilization, training, operating procedures, process and cleaning validations, compliance with state and federal requirements (FDA, OSHA, DEA, state agencies, etc.). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Makes logical, well-informed, and thought-out decisions that support organizational objectives. Has the ability to make decisive, effective decisions even when data and details are limited. Oversees a comprehensive training program and ensures proper execution of Standard Operator Procedures (SOPs) Supports team members in identifying and solving problems and guides them toward self-direction in daily work Develops and tracks associate performance against established department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), appraising and holding individuals accountable for performance expectations. Set SMART goals annually to strategically improve department performance over the long term. Recruits, trains, and develops associates to realize individual and team goals Effectively use staff and resources to efficiently utilize corporate assets. Ensures that all documentation and processes are handled accurately and according to Quality System procedures Champions safety awareness and education, reporting of incidents, injuries and work hazards, and investigation of accidents and implements controls to eliminate workplace hazards. Interface with all necessary departments within the organization to coordinate, direct, execute, and improve business processes. Strategic Responsibilities: Manage one, three, six, and twelve month capacity constraints and situations.
Provide input on the direction needed to meet company goals. Lead or support ongoing and new Capital Expenditure projects to meet company needs. Manage Operations financial goals by determining machine run rates, changeover rates, downtime, and staffing. Lead and support Continuous Improvement Projects using lean principles to improve COGS and business processes. Coach, mentor, and develop internal candidates to be future leaders. Able to focus on desired outcomes, and the means by which they are achieved by meeting and or exceeding standards based on past performance, goals, and objectives, as well as the performance and/or achievements of others. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: General Controls Organizational and Leadership Responsibilities Document Control Systems (Attendance, Disciplinary, Employee Recognition, Employee Orientation, Quality Awareness, and Job Training Program) Plant Safety and Security Program Internal Quality / cGMP Audit Program Sanitation Supervision Report all unsatisfactory performance of the Cleaning & Sanitation SOP’s, Agents or Equipment to the QA and Validation Manager. Ensure housekeeping staff are completing work required according to applicable SOP’s. QA/Regulatory Controls/Sanitation Control Quality Assurance / Product Specification Control Execute and document Validation and Change Control Monitor Pest Control Program and report any discrepancies to QA Execute, monitor, and improve Equipment Qualification Program Non-Conformance Investigation and Corrective Action Preventative Action reporting and execution Document Control and Batch Record accuracy and maintenance. Facility Control Facility – Security / Evacuation Control Hazardous Spill Control and First Aid Policy Facility Maintenance and Good Housekeeping Program – Regularly conduct facility walk-through, paying particular attention to cleanliness, state of repair and cGMP’s Equipment Control Equipment Control – Prevent Abuse Equipment Identification and Maintain Production Maintenance and associated log-books Maintenance Work Order Program Basic Understanding of Equipment and Processes Material / Component Control Verify Material / Component Specification per Work Order Working Knowledge of Material / Component Receipt, Inspection and Sampling Properly Perform Material / Component Storage and Handling Support Inventory Control Program Additional Responsibilities as Required Ensure the quality of all manufactured and packaged product as defined by cGMP’s and departmental SOP’s.
Collaborate with QA, QC, TMT, and PD to determine product specifications. Implement and monitor daily, departmental Standard Operating Procedures/forms, Manufacturing Records and validation documents. Oversee the production schedules to meet set targets and produce all products on time; Work closely with Inventory, Purchasing, Planning, Maintenance, TMT, QA/QC, and PD to utilize machine capacities.
Coordinate all supporting activities to meet the due dates and prevent backorder. Manage capacity and utilization levels of production equipment and facility. Ensure that all equipment and disciplines in the manufacturing areas meet GMP, FDA, and OSHA requirements and that all operators are properly trained. Manage departmental personnel through hiring, training, coaching and development plans to include conducting performance reviews and handling disciplinary action if needed. Review and approve all Deviations, Manufacturing Records, and SOP’s. Assist in managing departmental budgets. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead staff in the Manufacturing departments. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Two-year degree in Operations Management and five to seven years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and APICS certifications/experience are desired.
