Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Make a difference - join us to ensure water quality for people around the world. Provide leadership, direction and hands on involvement while managing personnel and processes involved in areas of responsibility. The Operations Manager is responsible for multiple production areas driving the continuous improvement of processes and systems in support of strategic and policy deployment objectives (or KPI’s). Including safety initiatives, production capacity planning, productivity improvements, capital projects, risk analysis, and new product/process and budget responsibilities. This position will have several managers reporting to them.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and lead KPI reviews, daily management, visual management process to support objectives
  • Responsible for establishing and meeting project quality, delivery, and cost objectives
  • Identify and drive change for improvement projects
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with FDA regulations
  • Drive “Best Practices” in all areas of responsibility
  • Develop and implement effective means of communication
  • Prepare, conduct, and develop the monitoring of evaluation and analysis of problem reports
  • Complete performance and development reviews for direct report associates and managers in team
  • Develop the strategic plan for areas of responsibility
  • Responsible for managing and mentoring of Supervisors, professional staff, and/or production associates
  • Monitor departmental budgets and assist in defining annual operating and capital budgets. Has budgetary approval responsibility.
  • Seeks solutions when obstacles arise
  • Manage labor capacity and cross-training plan for increased labor flexibility
  • Accountable for process improvements to achieve KPI goals for safety, quality, delivery, inventory, productivity
  • Participate in, facilitate kaizens to drive improvements
  • Represents the manufacturing area for internal and external quality system audits, directs subject matter experts. Participates in audit preparation, execution and follow up actions
  • Drive engagement of team and supervisorial staff
  • Work with R&D and Business Unit teams on manufacturability, capability, reliability reviews

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate is a talented professional who can develop talent, foster innovation and deliver results.

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical (physical science or engineering) or business related field
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively interface with a variety of people at various technical and management levels
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or six-sigma
  • Proficient presentation skills
  • Knowledge of quality principles and tools (problem analysis, statistical tools, design of experiments, control charts, and other quality methodologies)
  • Develops talent and is focused on development of people
  • Advanced knowledge of various manufacturing/distribution processes required
  • Strong computer skills (work processing, spreadsheets, graphics, statistical tools, etc.)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management
  • 5-10 years of experience in direct supervisory or facilitation (also experience with cross-functional work groups)
