This position will work in Kingfisher County, and the hired candidate MUST reside within the county.

Basic Purpose

Positions in this job family are involved in the regulation, inspection and investigation of oil and gas exploration and production facilities and operations. This includes enforcement of state and federal laws and Commission rules through inspections, investigations, and complaint response related to pollution control, environmental protection and production of oil and gas reserves.

Typical Functions

Level Descriptor

This is the basic level of the job family where employees are assigned responsibility for performing routine entry level work in a training status to build their skills in conducting inspections and investigations, responding to releases and complaints, and acting as a liaison between the Corporation Commission, the industry and the public.

Education and Experience

Education and Experience requirements at this level are mandated by statute. 52 O.S. SS 149 (8) (1999 Supplement) states applicants "…shall have four (4) years practical experience in oil field production and drilling operations…".

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of basic oil field drilling, production and plugging practices and methods; of investigative methods and procedures; of environmental and health protection related to oil and gas industry activities; of recordkeeping; and of rules pertaining to oil and gas production and pollution abatement. Ability is required to conduct routine investigations; to obtain and present routine evidence; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Special Requirements

Applicants must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver License at the time of employment and maintain a valid license while employed in this job family. Applicants must be willing and able to work overtime and to work on any designated shift that may span the late evening hours or the early morning hours commonly known as the night shift. Applicants must be able to successfully complete all training requirements for sole supervision of residents including but not limited to first aid certification, CPR, and unarmed restraint training.

Applicants must be willing and able to perform any/all job-related travel. Applicants must be willing and able to relocate to the area of assignment.

The Oklahoma Corporation Commission has determined that some positions in this job family are safety sensitive as defined by 63 O.S. § 427.8.

Additional

Core work hours for the Oklahoma Corporation Commission are Monday through Friday, 8am - 4:30pm. This schedule may require flexibility based on the needs of the agency.

This position is not remote work eligible as the position requires hands-on and in-person work to complete the essential job functions.
