Job Description

Children’s Village Pediatric Therapy Services is seeking an occupational therapist with a passion for working with children with special needs and their families. We offer specialized services in adaptive equipment, orthotics, splinting, sensory integration and feeding.

Children's Village is a place for children to be children first. As a neurodevelopmental center, our services offer opportunity for collaboration between multiple disciplines and across providers to achieve the best outcomes for pediatric patients and their families. We offer over 30 types of specialty services, provided in the home, community or at the Village itself. Children’s Village was built on the dream of combining partner agencies to assure services to children with special needs and has been serving the Yakima Valley and Central Washington since 1997. Yakima Valley Memorial, a not-for-profit organization is one of the founding partners and supports pediatric therapy (PT, OT, Speech), Parent to Parent (family support program) and Early Intervention services.

The pediatric therapy team enjoys the support of physical, occupational and speech therapists working in clinic based neurodevelopmental therapies, early intervention and classroom based collaborative services. We are a community training site for the UW LEND Program. We offer competitive salary and benefits package.


ROLE SUMMARY

Evaluates and treats pediatric patients to provide patient evaluation, consultation and intervention in individual, group, and team settings. Therapists have opportunities to complete services in the clinic, community, or home settings in order to capitalize on achieving the best outcomes for our pediatric patients.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Demonstrates competency in assessment of patient needs and development/implementation of occupational therapy treatment plans.

2. Supports and fosters personalized occupational therapy care, incorporating the cultural, ethnic, religious, or age specific needs of the child and family.

3. Instructs assistants, technicians, and students in pediatric therapy treatment procedures to be utilized, and provides supervision as needed.

4. Orients pediatric patients to occupational therapy treatment procedures appropriate to their age and needs. Informs family members of any potential risk during procedures.

5. Establishes and instructs patient, family, and other caregivers in exercise programs and therapeutic procedures to be continued following discharge and outside of therapy sessions.

6. Assists in the referral process when a patient requires additional rehabilitation services following discharge.

7. Meets established productivity expectations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education: Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy required.

Experience: One year of experience as a pediatric Occupational Therapist preferred.

Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Washington State (DOH) Occupational Therapist licensure required. Affiliation with a national professional association preferred. American Heart Association BLS required. Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance required.
