OVERVIEW

Full-time/Permanent Employee
Location: Chantilly, VA

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and technically oriented systems engineer to support a critical customer program. The candidate will be a proactive, forward-leaning self-starter that is comfortable balancing multiple priorities and performing assigned tasks with little to no supervision, in a fast-paced environment. This position requires insight and experience in a wide range of communications and networking systems engineering tasks. The role requires a deep technical understanding of end-to-end, holistic architectures and functionality of wireless and telecommunications protocols. The candidate will use their experiences to identify performance and capability gaps of existing systems and new systems in development. This position also requires strong interpersonal and effective communication skills, working as a part of a team and experience performing project management and milestone driven, programmatic developments. The candidate will generate and maintain systems engineering technical documentation and contribute towards project management artifacts. The candidate will be in a lead role driving the design, implementation and maintenance of one or more systems on behalf of the organization.

The role requires supporting and providing input into organization-wide technical strategies. The candidate will support the customer in exploring and evaluating existing and nascent commercial solutions and opportunities for consideration in linking IT systems spread across multiple sites. The candidate will function in a technical lead capacity to help drive execution, technical document review and product development deliverables.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience performing research and development activities to evolve proof of concepts and prototypes
  • Project Management experience
  • Extensive experience defining and implementing a solution architecture based on stakeholder and system requirements
  • Experience within the Intelligence Community or DoD
  • Assist in the development of technical solutions that align with technical roadmaps
  • Experience working across organizational boundaries to collect and share information necessary to support mission objectives

  • Experience providing technical support to monthly reviews and Technical Exchange Meetings and making recommendations on future courses of action
  • Demonstrated ability to distill complex information and concepts into clear presentations and effectively communicate such information to senior decision-makers
  • Experience assessing and evaluating organizational, technical and development plans, policies, communication systems and assumptions
  • Demonstrated ability and success working atypical organizational relationships
  • Clearance: TS/SCI with FSP
  • Experience generating and maintaining system engineering technical artifacts and documentation
  • Experience performing technical solution evaluations
  • Experience performing Integration and Test activities
  • Experience/Degree: BS Degree with 12-15 years, MS Degree with 10-13 years, or PhD with 10+ years relevant experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or other relevant technical degree. May consider experience in lieu of degree
  • Experience planning out technical developments to include assisting with developing roadmaps for strategy, schedules for development, and evaluating solutions for technical requirements
  • Extensive experience deriving system and segment requirements

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exposure to virtualization and containerization
  • Demonstrated on-the-job experience in telecommunications, Satcom and/or other wireless technologies
  • Certified in Systems Engineering and Project Management
  • Familiarity with commercial cloud services and virtual networking solutions
  • Knowledge of WAN and LAN networking systems and software
