Position Overview


Reporting to the Manager, Recruitment the Nurse Recruiter will specialize in filling Registered Nurse, Registered Practical Nurse and Nurse Practitioner vacancies within Scarborough Health Network (SHN). The Nurse Recruiter will be responsible for researching trends, marketing, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, analyzing retention and turnover data, evaluating recruitment strategies, supporting leaders through the hiring process, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, hiring and onboarding processes.


In this role, the successful candidate will interact with a variety of stakeholders and build strong relationships internally and externally that will make SHN an employer of choice for nurses. Your clinical experience will contribute to your overall success.

Responsibilities


  • Stay informed about new technologies and learning environments in order to evaluate resumes and potential training opportunities for new employees
  • Interview SHN managers and nurses to understand unit clinical requirements and unique department/unit culture
  • Understand CNO Standards and Guidelines and Scope of Practice and applicability in all clinical areas
  • Interview in-house managers and directors to develop a better understanding of personnel needs, staffing risks, overtime costs and scheduling practices in individual departments and as a program
  • Assessment skills are required to ensure a clear picture is developed from resumes regarding past work history and industry proficiencies
  • Screening duties include: telephone or zoom interviews with potential candidates to evaluate communication skills, reviewing resumes for educational and job history requirements and first interview sessions
  • Work as a liaison between departments and Human Resources to ensure job vacancies are identified quickly and filled efficiently, including advertising job opportunities using various job boards
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with University and College Clinical Coordinators and understand graduation rates and potential candidates
  • Search, source, screen and complete first interviews for all candidates, including conducting screening telephone interviews with potential candidates to evaluate communication skills, reviewing resumes for educational and job history requirements
  • Work as a liaison between all departmental leaders to ensure job vacancies are identified quickly and filled efficiently is a major duty for the nurse recruiter
  • Coordinate, schedule and attend various recruiting and networking events to promote recruitment and retention
  • Promote vacancies, attend professional conferences, identify sources for reaching potential employees, design and implement successful media advertising campaigns, attend job fairs and develop relationships with colleges and student work advisors
  • Interview SHN long service employees and develop a marketing video in collaboration with the Communications Department
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve department, program and corporate goals
  • Understand program offerings at academic institutions including degree and continuing education certificate programs
  • Be knowledgeable of and ability to provide candidates with the benefits of working at SHN, including corporate wellness program, pension and benefits program, educational assistance program, and current and upcoming sponsorship programs i.e. Critical Care Sponsorship Program
  • Provide potential candidates an overview of department, scheduling practices, clinical skills required and personal growth opportunities that may be available
  • Interview potential candidates prior to Human Resource contact


Requirements


  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational and administrative skills
  • Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community
  • Minimum of 5 years′ experience working in a variety of patient care units
  • Excellent work performance and attendance record
  • Strong research and investigative skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs is required
  • Demonstrates values consistent with SHN′s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
  • Experience working with collective agreement language and employee relation rules and have an understanding of HR Legislation
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses in Ontario
  • Experience in conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in Nursing (BScN)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with leadership in developing good recruitment practices
  • Experience working with an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is preferred
  • Excellent sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated focus on internal/external customer service and partnerships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
