Nurse Practitioner/Aprn - Colorectal Surgery

This position is responsible for provision of Advanced Practice Provider services to Colorectal Surgery patients in an outpatient and inpatient setting. The position will work as part of a care team at both the UNLV Health outpatient Surgery clinic as well as Inpatient hospital settings. Our patient care model includes faculty, residents, and students. Pay range for this position is $103,020 - 128,657 per year, depending on years of experience.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Bilingual (English and Spanish) is preferred
• Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree
• License in the State of Nevada as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or ability to be licensed prior to the start date

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assumes a proactive role in patient/family education and patient/family satisfaction in the practice setting
• Initiate and maintain surveillance on New and Current Colorectal patients.
• Assumes personal accountability to enhance the patient experience by using high quality, patient satisfaction-directed interactions/tools/activities in the execution of duties
• Schedule Colonoscopies.
• Performs, orders, and interprets diagnostic studies, such as x-rays and laboratory tests, in consultation with peers and colleagues
• Formulates diagnoses, identifies problems and health risk profiles, documents and clearly communicates with other members of the health care team
• Works in conjunction with Physicians, administrative management, nursing and other interprofessional team members to facilitate patient care and management throughout the health care system
• Participate in Tumor Board meetings (1st and 3rd Wednesday of Month) when applicable.
• Exercises independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of medical processes and procedures commensurate with training and experience
• Participates in training of staff, students, and residents; and as requested by Department Chair, Pediatric Surgery Division Chief, supervisors, mentors, and provides education on areas of expertise
• Performs and documents comprehensive health histories and physical assessments, to include initiation of CPR or other appropriate emergency therapy as needed
• Always interacts with patients and families in a compassionate and respectful manner, at all times
• Provide teaching and Colorectal screening.
