Nurse Practitioner - Umg-Women's Health

UConn Health is searching for an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our patient-focused care team. This full-time position is with Women's Health in the UConn Medical Group ("UMG") located in Farmington, CT. May travel to other UMG sites.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Participates in or designs changes in the system of care delivery
• Acts as a clinical consultant/resource to peers and other health care professionals within or outside the institution
• Assists in the development of policies/procedures
• Administers treatments, performs physical examinations and researches medical histories
• Provides patient/family education and counseling
• Participate in clinical research and services in various program areas through teaching and education
• Orders laboratory and diagnostic test and interprets results, prescribes, administers and dispenses medications and other treatments
• Coordinates treatment and makes appropriate referrals to other health care providers as necessary and monitors patient’s outcomes
• Assesses and diagnoses patient condition and develops and implements treatment plan in collaboration with designated physician
• Participates as a member of an interdisciplinary team
• Provides preventive and acute care in Women's Health
• Maintains safety, infection control and quality of care standards
• Maintains patient health information records
• Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY

• Ability to work independently
• Considerable interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under pressure
• Knowledge of pharmacology as it relates to advanced nursing practice
• Skill in performing specialty specific invasive procedures
• Considerable knowledge of theory, principles and practices of advanced nursing and therapeutic models in area of specialty
• Ability to effectively assess physical and psychosocial conditions
• Ability to formulate appropriate treatment plans
• Decision making ability
• Knowledge of different disciplines and disease states
• Ability to lead others and to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Oral and written communication skills
• Counseling skills

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

• Must possess and maintain a licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Connecticut

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

• Must possess and maintain American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers. This is the only accepted credential.
• Other CPR/AED credentials may be accepted at hire but incumbents will be required to obtain American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six (6) months of hire and maintain through employment.
• Applicable work experience in Ob/Gyn clinic or Women's Health. May have worked as RN in the specialty.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• APRN experience in Ob/Gyn clinic

SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week. Monday through Friday 8-hour shift between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.; 60-minute unpaid meal break.
