While some jurisdictions, including Maryland, permit the use of marijuana for medical purposes, marijuana continues to be classified as an illegal drug under the federal Controlled Substances Act. As a result, medical marijuana use will not be accepted as a valid explanation for a positive drug test result.
Adventist HealthCare will withdraw offers of employment to applicants who test positive for Cotinine (nicotine) and marijuana. As a Nurse Manager, you will:
- Promotes cohesive work teams and constructive conflict resolution both within the department and organization.
- Will assess unit needs to ensure adequate resources are available.
- Will facilitate, mentor and evaluate others to grow professionally and advance their knowledge and skills.
- Be responsible for ensuring the assessment, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the delivery of safe and effective patient-centered care.
- Oversee day-to-day operations for the Adult Emergency Department while collaborating with the Germantown Emergency Department and the Pediatric Emergency Department.
- Actively leads and encourages staff participation in continuous improvement efforts, DMAICs, and shared governance.
- Directly report to the Director of Emergency Services and are responsible for operationalizing the strategic plan for their department.
- Will demonstrate professionalism at all times and will uphold standards of practice by holding team members accountable for continued compliance in accordance with organizational goals and nursing mission and vision.
Qualifications include:
- Active Maryland RN license required
- Supervisory and leadership experience preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in an Emergency Department required
- Certification in leadership within 1 year of Eligibility
- Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Baccalaureate Degree in nursing required, Master’s degree preferred
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday with 24/7 accountability.
