THE POSITION

Are you interested in an entry-level position helping veterans? The Department of Military & Veterans Affairs, Southwestern Veterans' Center is currently seeking dedicated and caring individuals. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Our enthusiastic and dedicated nursing staff provides 24-hour care, seven days a week. From helping our residents prepare for their day to assisting them to participate in exciting activities, you will play a huge role in their day. Through this day-to-day contact with our residents, you will have the ability to positively impact their quality of life by assisting in providing the best possible care.

This position is a starting step to a Nurse Aide position. Upon completion of a training course and successfully passing the competency exam, the classroom course, and an orientation program through an accredited school, you would promote into a Nurse Aide position.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.
  • Entrance into the Aide Trainee Program will not begin until you have shadowed with a certified nurse aide and have worked within our facility assisting our residents. You may be removed from the program if you are unable to attend every class and clinical assignment.
  • Work hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with 30-minute lunch. Rotating schedule, flexible days/times based on schooling schedule.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • There are no minimum experience and training requirements for this job title.
Additional Requirements:
  • You must understand that failure to report for scheduled work day/time may lead to your removal from the nurse aide certification program.
  • You must be able to work hours other than those listed as the work schedule start and end times in order to accommodate classroom and clinical instruction.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • You must be able to attend schooling in an outside location which may be outside of Allegheny County.
Preferred Qualification (not required):
  • Long term care experience or experience caring for the elderly.
