Nuclear Operations Plant Instructor (Plant Farley)

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will:

  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain training and evaluation materials used for operations training programs.
  • Conduct training sessions in various settings to ensure plant staff is trained, retrained, and qualified as required.
  • Assist in determining training program effectiveness.
  • Develop and administer written and oral examinations to include simulator and in-plant observations.
  • Maintain plant training records and qualification programs for plant employees.
  • Conduct training needs, job, and task analyses.
  • Conduct quality reviews, research, and evaluation as requested by training supervision.
  • Ensure training programs meet high-performance standards and expectations.
  • Assist line organizations through temporary assignments, outage support, root cause teams, and performance assessments.
  • Obtain and maintain an SRO certification.
  • This position has an Emergency Response Organization (ERO) role and requires living within 75 minutes of the plant.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education Requirements:

  • High School graduate or equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science is desired.
  • Current or previous NRC commercial Senior Reactor Operator or Reactor Operator license (or SRO certification) from a PWR is preferred.

Experience Requirements:

  • A total of five (5) years of commercial nuclear power plant experience preferred.
  • A total of five (5) years Navy nuclear power and qualified Navy Engineering Officer of the Watch or Navy Training Engineering Officer of the Watch will be considered.
  • A maximum of two (2) years of experience may be fulfilled by academic or related technical training on a one-for-one basis.
  • Instructional experience in an accredited training program is preferred.
  • Control room experience within commercial nuclear power is preferred.
  • Certified Nuclear Training Instructor is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Detailed knowledge of operating procedures and regulations in assigned areas.
  • Detailed knowledge of nuclear plant systems and processes.
  • Working knowledge of plant simulation software.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
