Job Description

Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SI) is looking for a Nuclear Fuel Engineer with 3-10 years of nuclear fuel performance modeling and simulation development experience. The successful candidate will be involved in developing fuel performance evaluations, material modeling, and engineering analysis of nuclear fuel behavior under normal operating conditions, off-normal transients, and postulated accidents.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform engineering calculations using EPRI and DOE fuel performance codes (Falcon, BISON)
  • Develop analyses to mitigate likelihood of PCI related fuel failures in nuclear power plants
  • Work with NRC Regulations relevant to nuclear fuel power plant operations and spent fuel transportation and storage
  • Develop fuel performance software for new fuel performance computer code

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience presenting findings and recommendations to key management through reports and presentations
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated experience with Unix environments.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in nuclear fuel engineering analysis
  • Demonstrated technical and administrative management of small-scale projects within the fuel analysis area
  • Demonstrated experience in fuel performance modeling and simulation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nuclear plant licensing regulations, guides, codes, and standards applicable to fuel analysis methods
  • Demonstrated effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks and safety appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated strong ethics and interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer’s License in Nuclear or Mechanical engineering
  • Master’s and/or PhD in Nuclear Engineering
