Summary

Centrally located in the historic Kansas City Club Building.

Nighthawk is a rockin’ cellar bar featuring eclectic music, fast-friendly service, nostalgic pub food, great drinks, and a lively + energetic late-night atmosphere.

The premise of Nighthawk was born out of an immense love of all forms of auditory art. Musicians and music lovers alike will feel right at home inside Nighthawk; One side of the room features a stage with a complete live band PA setup for artists to put on live performances throughout the week; The other side is outfitted with a DJ booth featuring Altec A5 speakers with Werner Jagusch crossovers, a Japanese Elekit 200b tube amp, three turntables with one setup for 78s.

The Nighthawk General Manager is a Department Head position and will be responsible in managing the day-to-day operations. The Nighthawk General Manager is responsible for directing and organizing the activities of Nighthawk to maintain the highest standards of service and marketing to maximize profits through outstanding customer service. The ideal candidate will bring a ‘unique value’ to the space, focus on product, brand and culture, have an entrepreneurial mindset, experiment and take new ideas to fruition, and will use grassroots marketing to spread our message to a larger audience.

Essential Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

  • Plan, direct, assign and delegate responsibility and authority for all functions of administration and planning of Nighthawk to meet the daily needs of the operation
  • Maximize food and beverage department profitability; implement effective controls of food, beverage, and labor costs and monitor the restaurants’ budget to ensure efficient operations, including achieving budgeted revenue and labor expenses
  • Monitor, develop and implement schedules for the operation of Nighthawk to achieve a profitable result.
  • Hire, train, supervise, develop and evaluate restaurant colleagues according to Hotel Kansas City’s policies and procedures
  • Manage beverage program. Develop cocktail menus, recipes, menu costs
  • Process payroll and maintain all relevant records
  • Monthly inventory, menu updates, cooler and liquor room organization, staff training, menu education
  • Ensure all employees are working within outlined operating standards
  • Report on financial performance, inventory, and personnel
  • Consistently train associates on newest product and service knowledge. Hold monthly staff meetings and quarterly staff trainings
  • Regularly review and evaluate the degree of customer satisfaction of Nighthawk; recommend new marketing and/or operational policies and procedures when necessary to keep up with demand and market changes; investigate and resolve food quality and service complaints
  • Consistently come up with product and service improvements as well as ways to generate new business
  • Demonstrate high degree of drive and initiative
  • Ensure a safe working environment for all associates
  • Maintain a good working relationship with other associates by fostering a harmonious work environment
  • Communicate with other departments to ensure a supporting team of professionals
  • Other tasks/duties as assigned by Food & Beverage Director
  • At least 5 years in food and beverage restaurant management preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of restaurant operations including food, beverage, supervisory aspects, service techniques, and guest interaction
  • Considerable skill in math equations using percentages
  • Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system
  • Develop and implement marketing, advertising, public and community programs
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by tracking emerging trends in the restaurant industry\
  • Accomplishes company goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests

Qualifications

  • Full Time Management Position that requires full flexibility, ability to work weekends and holidays and a varied schedule A true desire to understand and anticipate the needs of others in a fast-paced environment Refined verbal and written communication skills Must be proficient in general computer knowledge, including a working knowledge of point of sale systems At least 3 years in food and beverage restaurant management preferred. Thorough knowledge of restaurant operations including food, beverage, supervisory aspects, service techniques, and guest interaction Considerable skill in math equations using percentages Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system Must be able to obtain Kansas City Liquor License Food Service Sanitation certification We have excellent benefits!
