DESCRIPTION

Under supervision, performs semi-skilled and skilled cleaning of College Residences /Dining Halls facilities, bathrooms, kitchens, suites, and landings. Will operate vacuum cleaners and floor machines. Other duties include damp/dust mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, shampooing carpet, waxing and buffing floors, emptying trash, moving and arranging furniture, washing windows, and cleaning rooms, furniture, bathrooms, and appliances. Responsible for safeguarding assigned area’s keys and care/operation of custodial supplies and equipment. Will respond to routine and emergency work requests from supervisor, staff, maintenance, Customer Service Center, and police department. Will provide customer service to student residents and guests as needed. Work location is Dining Halls/student residence. Positive interaction with staff, residents, and guests is required.

Housing Dining Hospitality (HDH) is a self-funded, large and complex campus department consisting of 7 divisions, with over 700 career employees, 1000 to 1200 student employees, and an annual operating budget greater than $256 million. HDH provides housing for approximately 18,000 undergraduates, grad students, faculty, staff, and their families in over 400 buildings covering over 8 million sq. ft. HDH is implementing an aggressive building plan which added 10,000 new beds in the next ten years and will almost double our square footage by 2032.

HDH houses 38% of UCSD’s enrolled students with a goal of housing 65% by 2032. HDH provides maintenance and repair, contract meals/meal plan management, retail food service, conference services, and catering services to residents, students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an environment subject to frequently changing priorities
  • Ability to determine when repairs are necessary and inform supervisor

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Will be required to work alternate work hours and shifts.
  • Must be physically able to perform physical labor for extended periods.
  • Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on background check results.
  • Must have a valid California Driver’s License, good driving record, and participate in the DMV pull program
  • May be required to work overtime by supervisor with little or no advanced notice.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $39,463 - $49,068 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $18.90 - $23.50

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
