Night Editorial/Social Producer, Prospects And Minor Leagues (Seasonal)

We are looking for a night editorial/social producer for MLB Pipeline – MLB.com’s vertical dedicated to coverage of prospects and Minor League Baseball.

MLB Pipeline producers are responsible for writing and editing prospect, Draft and Minor League content for MLB.com, MiLB.com and the 30 MLB club sites. They will work closely with homepage editors and other editorial/social producers to ensure that the sites provide users with the most relevant, informative and interesting content possible.

This job is part-time and seasonal, and can be fully remote.

Responsibilities

• Select and crop photos to pair with stories, prospect lists and other packages
• Write original prospect- and Minor League-focused articles that will appear on MLB.com and MiLB.com
• Write interesting headlines, captions, blurbs
• Request video highlights and provide metadata for the clips
• Make judgments on story significance and arrange content into lead packages on the sites
• Use social media to promote content
• Edit and post content for use on MLB.com, MiLB.com, team and partner websites
• Manage and update MLB Pipeline’s comprehensive ranking of the top prospects in each MLB organization
• Communicate with the rest of the team to ensure that all content is accurately placed on the various sites
• Update the sites quickly and accurately
• Collaborate with multimedia department to ensure appropriate and relevant video is being used with each story

Qualifications

• Ability to work well under deadline and in fast-paced situations with multiple responsibilities
• Facility with written Spanish is not required but beneficial
• Basic HTML and Photoshop skills
• Thorough knowledge of baseball -- specifically about prospects and the Minor Leagues
• Position will require work at night and on weekends
• Experience with content management systems and web publishing
• Strong copy-editing skills
• Strong communication, presentation and organization skills
• Ability to write compelling, concise content on deadline
• Knowledge of social media and SEO
