NETWORK TECHNICIAN

SALARY: $98,790.40 to $112,501.20 Annually (Range 63)

LENGTH OF SERVICE: 12 Months/227 Days per Year

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Network Technician is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the network hardware and software. This position provides support and assistance to network users. The Network Technician also analyzes hardware and software operations and recommends improvements in server applications and operation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintains documentation and records for the operation of local and wide area network;
  • Administers network hardware and software applications;
  • Provides user support as required;
  • Resolves complex and technical network hardware and software problems;
  • Analyzes operation of network hardware and software systems;
  • Provides technical support and assistance to network clients;
  • Recommends and implements enhancements to existing hardware systems and procedures;
  • Installs network hardware and software;

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Experience analyzing and resolving problems with computer network systems, assisting individuals with computer hardware and software problems, configuring, and installing computers networks, working in a routing environment.

Skill acquiring, installing, and supporting network hardware and software, working with teams to develop and implement networks, resolving network computer problems.

Knowledge of principals of working in a wide area network environment, computer networks telecommunication technology, digital communications in networks.

Ability to analyze and resolve operational problems, recommend and implement operational improvements, manage projects and workflow for timely completion, provide leadership to staff members, communicate effectively in both oral and written form, travel to various locations.

Physical Abilities include sitting for extended periods, lifting, reaching, pushing/pulling, fine manual dexterity, talking/hearing, and near and far visual acuity, depth perception, color vision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • One (1) year experience configuring and deploying network firewalls, routers and switches;
  • Two (2) years experience maintaining and operating network hardware and software;
  • Possession of a high school diploma (or its equivalency) or higher or possession of a GED.
  • Two (2) years’ experience managing and maintaining Windows active directory services, Windows file and print services, and Windows application servers;

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL 2008 Server or later;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or related field with emphasis in technical writing or equivalent experience;
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office 365;
  • Experience working with Macintosh computers and operating systems;
  • Experience with VMware ESXi Server;
  • Experience with Cisco routers and switches;
  • Experience with Enterprise backup solutions and management of Netvault, Vranger and AppAssure;
