Job Description
Overview:
As Network Specialist-Project Coordinator you will provide project coordination support for a geographic area. This will also include, but not limited to; project manage, coordinate and facilitate project scheduling and tracking of a small to medium sized portfolio for small to medium risk, scope and complexity of network installation and upgrade projects. This includes monitoring and management of scope, budget, timeline, installation, and integration. The position will also manage the efforts of internal TDS and third party resources as part of the build plan work flow.

This position has the ability to work remotely in any of the 40+ States in which TDS Telecom operates.


This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus and/or relocation bonus!

This position can be hired at either a Network Specialist-Project Coordinator (2023-22039) or Senior Specialist-Project Coordinator (2023-22040) level depending on the skills and qualifications of the candidate. Different job postings exist for each of these positions. The pay range listed for this position represents the low and high end of the base compensation range. The actual offer amount will carefully consider multiple factors, such as relevant skills, qualifications, work experience, location and/or competencies that align with the specified role. Certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses and equity awards.

Responsibilities:
  • Support resource managers in tactical application of tools and reports. Provide regular and ad hoc reporting out of planning tool, tagging, and formatting projects.
  • Maintain plans throughout the life cycle of projects, consistent with internal practice and procedures. Monitor and manage project to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery within scope and of high quality. Provide project direction to internal TDS and third party resources. Ensure quality audits/inspections are completed during construction. Make sure all construction practices are adhered to and see that required acceptance tests are made per TDS standards.
  • Examine project documentation/data for completeness and accuracy.
  • Perform rudimentary office administration functions.
  • Evaluate and recommend changes in methods and procedures in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Ensure closure of project to include but not limited to; budget, invoice, contract, and retirement-of-units related to the capital project.
  • Produce detailed project/portfolio reports and notifications as appropriate. Track the capital budget expenditures for assigned projects and provides reporting from SAP as needed. Comply with all Sarbanes-Oxley 404 requirements and processes.
  • Provide project coordination support for a geographic area and project management of assigned network projects. Provide coordination and scheduling activities utilizing project management system (Clarity), tools and aids such as project plans, reports and charts.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
  • 1+ years of telecommunications or commercial construction experience.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) –OR- 4+ years of professional work experience.
  • 1+ year project leadership experience.
Other Qualifications
  • Project management experience with budget responsibility.
  • Average of 10% time travel may be required with possible overnight stays.
  • Completion of one or more projects through all phases of at least one life cycle.
  • Ability to resource, organize and deploy a strong team and foster a spirit of team play.
  • Ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders to understand the value proposition of each project and project request.
  • Ability to plan, organize and control multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective use of process and use of judgment to adapt processes as the situation demands.
  • Ability to rapidly assimilate key business objectives of the business unit being supported by the project.
  • Ability to perform in a self-directed environment.
  • Ability to influence others without the benefit of organizational authority.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and personal sense of urgency.
  • Knowledge of appropriate tools for the system(s) preferred, which may include MS Project, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and any functional systems being affected by the project.
  • Ability to achieve success through effective use of teams, and be able to demonstrate personal adaptability in a changing environment.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including exceptional written and oral communication skills and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience in engineering, design, or installation in the telecommunications industry.

Associates scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week have access to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off benefits such as vacation (15 days accrued per year for full-time; pro-rated for part-time associates working between 20-39 hours), sick leave (10 days accrued per year for full-time and pro-rated for all other associates), seven paid national holidays and one floating holiday, paid parental leave (2 weeks after 12 months of employment), among others. Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability coverage is also available for associates working 30 or more hours per week and Education Assistance is available to full-time associates.
