Within the Office of Information Technology (OIT), we currently seek a Network Security Engineer to support the design and execution of a new centralized service that entails consolidated administration for firewalls University-wide. The individual in this role will be experienced with firewalls in order to provide technical support for advanced troubleshooting, request fulfillment, solution implementation, and alignment with architecture standards. The engineer works closely with the network security architect, product owner, internal stakeholders, and University Information Security (UIS) to fulfill short and long-term priorities for network security services.

Job Responsibilities:
Configures and troubleshoots VPN services
Configures and troubleshoots firewall services
Administer DNS, DHCP, and IP address management tools
Familiar with load balancing services
Develops detailed technical processes and supporting documentation for network security services
Leads troubleshooting and service restoration efforts for network security services.
Configures and fine-tunes monitoring, alerting, and event management for network security services
Implementation of code upgrades for network security platforms
Assists product manager, product owner, and network security architect with the creation of formal service offerings for network security platforms

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience or a comparable combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Experience designing and implementing network security solutions in an engineering role
Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting VPNs
Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting firewalls
Hands-on experience administering DNS, DHCP, and IP address management tools
Familiarity with a broad range of network technologies including routers, switches, load balancers, WiFi, and network management platforms
Demonstrated expertise in network traffic analysis using Wireshark or other protocol analyzers
