SUMMARY


The Network Engineer is responsible for the oversight of the Systems Administrator and IT Specialist, the management of IT projects, and the overall design, development, implementation, and oversight of the corporate network, infrastructure, and information securities. Must possess a range of knowledge spanning Windows and Linux operating systems, HPE routing and switching, blade center, SAN, firewalls, scripting, and VMware virtualization technologies. The successful candidate will be able to leverage their knowledge to:


  • Maintain a high level of system availability, security, and performance
  • Provide technical guidance to all levels of company staff and provide services as directed in support of customer projects
  • Identify areas of improvement to enhance system functionality, availability, and performance, and design, test, implement, and document new solutions to achieve those enhancements.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, designs, develops, implements, and documents corporate network and system upgrades and improvements, to include the VMware virtual environments, HPE blade center and network infrastructure, Windows and Linux domain servers, test network and systems, and management applications.
  • Oversees the management of the corporate network infrastructure, network devices, and physical and virtual Windows and Linux servers.
  • Manages and facilitates Local and Wide Area Network design and implementation.
  • Interfaces with outside vendors for hardware, software and services needed to maintain corporate infrastructure.
  • Assures compliance with ISO 27001 security requirements, and designs and implements changes in policy, systems, networks, and applications to improve security.
  • Identifies security flaws and weaknesses and develops solutions to address them.
  • Manages and provides direction and guidance for the Systems Administrator and IT Specialist.
  • Drafts, implements, and enforces security policies and procedures.


QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates should have a solid working knowledge and prior experience with Windows, Linux and

VMware ESXi operating systems, HPE networking and blade center technologies, information security, and project management with an emphasis on the following:


  • Management, development, and implementation of IT projects
  • SAN infrastructure and networking
  • HPE stand-alone servers, blade centers, and network devices
  • Security policies and policy development
  • Windows domain functionality including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy
  • IDS, SIEM, firewalls, and vulnerability assessment
  • Backup and replication technologies
  • Microsoft Office365 Suite Administration
  • VLANs and Access Control Lists
  • Intermediate to advanced Linux server management (RHEL/Debian)
  • VMware vSphere and ESXi


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree minimum, 5-8 years of professional experience as a systems or network engineer in a mixed Windows and Linux environment. CASP, CISM, and/or CISSP


Requires experience planning, designing, installing, and configuring firewalls, routers, switches, VPN, wireless access points, security applications, and a thorough understanding of IP, network, and security protocols.


TRAVEL

Ability to travel internationally for potentially extended periods of time for customer site installations.

Normal installations range from one to three weeks; however, on occasion, the period of time may be longer.
