Summary
The Network Administrator position plays a critical role in managing and maintaining Ipsen’s server, network, and security infrastructure. They are responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the network, minimizing the risk of downtime and data loss, and maintaining the security of the organization's network and data.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate and escalate IT issues to IT Manager as appropriate.
- Monitor network performance to identify and resolve network problems.
- Configure, Install, and maintain network hardware and including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, access points, UPSs, and other data center equipment.
- Respond to the needs and questions of network users; provide Level 2 and 3 network support.
- Assist in the design, deployment, and administration of wireless infrastructure.
- Provide training for and enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Implement and maintain network security measures, such as firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and VPNs.
- Communicate with other departments to report and resolve software, hardware, and operations problems.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and technical troubleshooting capabilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Fortinet, HP, Aruba networking equipment a plus
- Understanding of Virtualization/Cloud networking concepts – VMWare, Azure
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols, equipment, and technologies.
- Ability to work well in a team and independently.
- Availability to occasionally work outside standard business hours.
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery procedures.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field required.
- Network+, CCNA, or CCNP certification a plus
- 3+ years experience in a network administration role
- 3+ years working with Active Directory/DNS/DHCP, Office 365; experience in a Windows and Linux environment.
- 2+ years working in Virtual networking environments; VMWare, Azure
