Job Title: Level III Rope Access NDT Technician
Location: Gray, LA
Danos Expectations:
The Level III Rope Access NDT Technician will report to the NDT Project Manager. The Level III Rope Access NDT Technician shall have one or more NDT Level II certifications in either MT, PT, VT, UT, RT, or EC. The Level III Rope Access NDT Technician will be performing calibrations, Non-destructive Tests, and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and record results. Level III Rope Access NDT Technicians are qualified to set up and calibrate equipment and to interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Level III Rope Access NDT Technician are thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the method of NDT being used.
Duties:
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Ensure that all procedures are understood prior to the start of work
- Organize and report test results.
- Identify work zones and ensure the safety of any personnel or public who may enter these zones.
- Ensure that any rope access equipment that is damaged at the work site is identified and removed from service
- Responsible for the immediate supervision, implementation, and oversight of the rope access program at the work site
- Mentor junior employees in rope access and working procedures
- Be able to demonstrate all the skills and knowledge required of RA level I, Level II, and Level III.
- Make certain that all equipment on the work site is protected from damage and is maintained in a safe condition throughout the work
- Communicate and coordinate with clients and their safety representatives regarding rope access safety and rescue procedures
- Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.
- Ensure that the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) to be used
- Set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment.
- Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.
- Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, Visual inspection, Ultrasonic Testing, Eddy Current, or Radiography.
- Complete all required planning, safety meetings and documentation, including work permits, job hazard analyses, safety meetings and rescue plans
- Make certain that a prompt rescue of rope access personnel can be accomplished and that emergency services are available
Qualifications:
- Willingness to learn and improve
- NDT Level II Certified in at least one method (MT, PT, VT, UT, EC, RT) required.
- SPRAT Level 3 Certification required including proficiency in theoretical knowledge, equipment and rigging, maneuvers, climbing and rescue/hauling
- Physically and mentally fit
- Ability to work productively in adverse conditions
- Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
