Job Description
1. Position
  • Operates conveyors to move pipe to and from UT unit.
  • NDT Operator
  • Sends pipe to prove-up rack to substantiate UT findings which are not clearly indicated as passed or failed.
  • High School Diploma, OR Equivalency Certificate, (GED, etc.)
  • Submit daily reports on pipe ultrasonically inspected.
  • Prepares UT for operation.
  • Level II Ultrasonic Method, OR Proof of In-house training programs, ability to run Ultrasonic Unit for detection of imperfections
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. 8. Physical Requirements
  • Interacting with other employees, suppliers, and customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Constantly representing of the company in a positive and professional manner regardless of customer requests, complaints, or demeanor.
  • Ability to perform light to medium lifting as necessary. 9. Training Requirements
  • Complying with policies and procedures.
  • Uses ultrasonic unit to prove-up indications from the UT scanning operation.
  • Prepare reports showing pipe numbers and all data applicable to UT of pipe. 6. Qualifications
  • The NDT Operator conducts ultrasonic testing of pipe products. 3. Immediate Supervisor
  • Reasonable knowledge in hand-held measuring devices, grinding, operation of thickness gauges and depth gauges.
  • This position reports directly to the Quality Supervisor. 4. Performance Standards
  • Able to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to follow job and safety requirements. 7. Working Conditions
  • Maintain file of UT readouts.
  • Providing exceptional customer service to all customers, suppliers, and employees.
  • Inspects seam to determine if pipe is acceptable under the applicable specification and code.
  • Ultrasonically inspects weld longitudinal seam.
  • Moderate to Advanced PC Skills in Microsoft Applications, ie, MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
  • Calibrates UT unit using Reference Standards.
  • FLSA Classification(s): Non-Exempt/Hourly 2. Job Summary
  • Communicating work progress and significant issues to the immediate supervisor. 5. Responsibilities
  • Printout results of UT scan and prove-up when requested.
  • 2 Years equivalent experience in related field OR, Proof of training in an area related to the job assignment
  • Sets UT and equipment for correct size.
  • Perform other functions assigned by Supervisor.
  • Maintain housekeeping in the UT area.
