Job Description

NDT Trainee

Position Overview:

The NDT Trainee, under the supervision of a Level II or Level III, will perform job duties as assigned. The NDT Trainee is expected to learn all aspects of inspection services following established methods of inspection and procedures as trained by an NDT Level II or III, as well as training via certification programs.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Follow established procedures and part specific techniques.
  • Must know and follow all department and company safety rules.
  • Be able to learn and operate ultrasonic test equipment.
  • Illustrate the ability to make sound decisions on how to inspect and process parts.
  • Successfully perform calibrations, tests, and evaluations with NDT equipment.
  • Show continuous progression within the NDT certification process based on demonstrated performance and feedback from others.
  • Accurately follow written instructions and clearly record results under close supervision.
  • Successfully pass various examinations (domestic travel required when attending training sessions).

Minimum Requirements:

  • Excellent attention to detail and due diligence in assigned work.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g., Associate Degree) or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. 2 years' related work experience). (High School Diploma or equivalent required).
  • US Person required.
  • Proficient understanding of the metric system.
  • Must have a high level of integrity and able to accept an elevated level of responsibility.
  • Customer-centric attitude to the quality of assigned work with a desire to ensure continual and consistent client satisfaction is required.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with coworkers.
  • Ability to perform intermediate arithmetic calculations in order to complete assigned duties.
  • Ability to read specifications, formulas, charts, tables, drawings; comprehend and follow verbal instructions.

Desired Requirements:

  • Understanding of industry standard equipment and technical expertise.
  • Strong team building, and decision-making skills based on electronic data.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of inspection technology preferred.
  • Self-starter with problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with AS9100 and NAS410 standards.
  • Experience in NDT highly desirable.
  • Effective collaboration across work cells that promote drive for results in meeting production targets.
  • Ability to read technical documentation preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Successful candidate may be required to work any shift – first, second or third.
  • Able to bend, twist, squat, and lift.
  • Able to work flexible schedule, including extended hours and weekends.
  • Less than 10% travel requirement, Candidate must be willing to travel between Aurora sites for production support, and as needed for training purposes, with reasonable notice.
  • Able to operate a forklift.
  • Work onsite in Columbus, MS.
  • Able to work in a manufacturing environment and follow Boeing regulations for lifting.
