What you can expect to be doing:

Haley Ward is looking for a Natural Resources Technician to be in our Portsmouth, NH office. The function of the Natural Resource Technician is to collect, analyze, and present environmental data to provide clients and team members guidance related to environmental policies, regulations, and guidelines that meet State and Federal requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Performs wetland delineations, natural resource assessments, vernal pool surveys, wildlife assessments, field surveys and soil testing, evaluating field conditions, and gathering and measuring field data.
  • Works with staff in the preparation of State environmental and Federal Army Corps permit applications, correspondence, presentations, and other technical documents.
  • Tabulates data and prepares charts, graphs, or sketches. Prepares technical reports, memoranda, drawings, plans, and other technical documents as needed to support project requirements.
  • Prepares and reviews compliance with environmental regulations and permits for review by Project Manager and Senior Technical Reviewer.
  • Reviews, interprets, and applies State and Federal natural resources and environmental regulations to assist clients in understanding compliance obligations.

Working Conditions

  • Approximately 60-75% of work is conducted in the field, varying with project requirements, with the balance of time in an office setting.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Minimum of one to five years natural resources experience preferred focusing on Wetland Delineation, Wetland Ecology, Soils, Botany, and/or Wildlife Biology
  • GPS and GIS or AutoCad experience preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including MS Word, Outlook, and advanced functions of Excel
  • Experience with State and Federal permitting processes preferred
  • Effective communication skills and technical writing skills required
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resources, Wildlife, Forestry, or related field required
  • Works independently as well as a team member and is responsible for completion of assigned work in conformance with schedules in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid driver’s license
