Natural Resources Conservationist I

Essential Duties

The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform.

• Prepares conservation plans for landowners.
• Carries out Soil and Water Conservation District and Natural Resources Department programs.
• Carries out County Soil Erosion and Sediment Control and Storm Water Control Programs.
• Documents and maintains records of project site and actions taken and presents findings to Environmental Review Board.
• Reviews Soil Erosion and Sediment Control and Strom Water Control plans; conducts compliance inspections; takes appropriate enforcement action.
• Prepares reports, document actions and maintains records.
• Collects field data using GIS and other computer aided methods as well as other analytical methods.
• Performs other tasks as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Civil Engineering, Natural Resources, Environmental Science or related environmental science field AND a minimum of 1 year of work experience which relates to the position. Computer skills such as word processing, spread-sheet, etc. are desired. Knowledge of storm water control, soil erosion and sedimentation control, engineering/land surveying, agronomy, forestry and wildlife preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. A valid drivers’ license, without restrictions, is required. The candidate selected must undergo and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The candidate selected must be able to work in an out-door environment which includes working in fields, forested areas, agricultural areas, and land with uneven terrain.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.23 - $31.35 per hour
