I. General Summary


  • Under general supervision helps develop, plan, manage, and evaluate community health improvement and outreach programs, including health screenings, disease prevention programs, and other programs in support of the community health initiatives of the local organization and University of Maryland Medical Systems.


II. Principal Responsibilities And Tasks


The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements of the position.


  • Serves as class facilitator for prevention-based courses offered to the public and patients.
  • Represents local organization and UMMS at community health events as assigned.
  • Represents local organization and UMMS on appropriate health coalitions, local health department, and community organizations’ work groups and committees.
  • Coordinates and organizes health screening and outreach events in the community and system hospital campuses by partnering with professional staff, business and community-based organizations, key stakeholders, and agencies to facilitate and coordinate efforts.
  • Serves as the liaison between the local organization administration and UMMS on community outreach and benefit activities and programs.


Qualifications


III. Education and Experience


  • At least Two (2) years of experience in health care environment is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with the public, community partners, vendors, and professional staff.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Requires excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications with experience in word processing and spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and CBSA.
  • B.S. Degree in Business, Allied Health, Marketing or health-related field is required, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.


IV. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities


  • Work is often performed outside of the hospital in various locations throughout the Baltimore metropolitan area. Locations may include local church halls, schools, senior centers, parks, mobile van, or business offices.
  • Significant local travel required.
  • Weekend, shift work, holiday, on-call, and overtime may be required.
