Job Description

:

The MRI Tech is responsible for performing medical imaging examinations under the direction of a physician to assist in the medical diagnosis or treatment of illness or injury.

Intermountain is seeking MRI Techs to join our team at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah. We are hiring for full-time, part-time, g and PRN shifts . We are currently offering up to $5,000 sign-on bonus for eligible applicants.

For Specialty Technologist in Training:

Job Details

· Sign-on Bonus: up to $2500.00 for eligible applicants

· Shift: Full-time, 40 hrs/wk

Scope

Works at least 80% of time training in the respective specialty area. Must obtain registration within 1 year of moving into this job, if specialty area requires a registry.

Job Essentials

  • Demonstrates effective radiation and pathogenetic protection for patient, as well as self.
  • Participates in department assignments such as maintaining department stock, quality improvement activities, and cleaning work areas.
  • Follows department protocols for medical necessity, obtaining consents for invasive procedures, coding and charging, and documenting any events that may occur.
  • Performs exams using consistent department protocols and transmits all pertinent data through appropriate systems for radiologist review.
  • Positions patients effectively for scans, using sound knowledge of physiology and anatomy.
  • Proactively assesses images and makes adjustments, as needed, to deliver quality scans for proper patient diagnosis.
  • Actively pursues learning new procedures or advancements in specialty area.
  • Performs routine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of imaging equipment and makes adjustments for patient size, age, and condition. Also recognizes equipment failures and adjusts or reports concerns as needed.
  • Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam. Assists in proper contrast administration.


Minimum Qualifications

  • BLS Certification for healthcare providers.
  • Successful completion of formal RT training from an ARRT-approved school.

Current State of Utah License if working in Utah (not required in Idaho).


    ARRT License and a current State of Utah Radiology Tech License if working in Utah (not required in Idaho).

    Eligible to take the applicable MR registry.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Two years experience in diagnostic radiology.

    Job Details

    Job Essentials

    • Understands proper MR magnet safety in an event of an emergency.
    • Incumbent views, transfers, archives, and manipulates images.
    • In coordination with the radiologist, selects proper scanning techniques and protocols.
    • Exhibits a working knowledge of the magnet, cryogens, gradient amplifiers, and all relevant computer hardware and software.
    • Adheres to and understands the MRI safety policy and the FOUR ZONE concept.
    • Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation including time stamps and image storage.
    • Performs MRI examinations per department protocol.
    • Understands cross-sectional anatomy and demonstrates anatomical positioning competency.
    • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of protocol relating to contrast administration. As ordered by the physician and under radiologist or physician supervision administers intravenous contrast material to patients.
    • Understands the Quench procedure and when it should be performed.
    • Exhibits a working knowledge of the MRI scanner. Troubleshoots when needed and understands the shutdown and start-up procedures.
    • Completes studies within acceptable time limitations without compromising patient care or the quality of the examination.
    • Understands and operates all MRI equipment and related information systems appropriately to ensure that quality images are produced. Exhibits understanding and proficiency with electronic imaging.
    • Critiques own films.
    • Ensures proper patient identification, and order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
    • Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.


    Minimum Qualifications

    • ARRT registered technologist.

    • Current Utah State Licensure (for positions in Utah) in order to administer RX.

    Basic life support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.


      One year of experience in MRI.

      Post-hire expectation: Meets departmental IV certification competency within three months of hire.

      Post-hire expectation: (Where applicable) Must complete the controlled substance module within six months of hire.

      Post-hire expectation: (Where applicable) Must complete the initial moderate sedation module within six months of hire.

      Preferred Qualifications

      MR registered by ARRT
