Job Description

Summary
We are currently accepting applications for an American Montessori Society (AMS) or Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) certified primary teacher to join us in August 2021. Successful applicants must have an AMS or AMI primary diploma, a bachelor's degree in education, an Indiana teacher certificate for the specified age range or the ability to attain one, dedication to Montessori philosophy, strong classroom management skills, the ability to build strong and supportive relationships with parents and fellow staff members, and a love for working with children.
Interested applicants who are not currently AMS certified may apply but will be required to complete a Montessori credential program at Trine University from June-July and commit to staying with the program for five years.
Duties
Coordinate and implement Montessori curriculum by developing and delivering classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices.
Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, parent-teacher conferences, and home visits.
Ensure all school policies and state regulations are met.
Ensure a healthy classroom environment - including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene, and safety standards.
Maintain accurate records, forms, and files.
Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Requirements
Associate's degree in early childhood or Bachelor's degree
American Montessori Society (AMS) or Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) certification
Satisfactory completion of Safe Hiring Solutions Extended National Criminal History and Indiana DCS check
Must complete tuberculosis test, drug test
Certified in CPR/First Aid.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
