Job Description
Summary About the Position: Serves as a senior Military Analyst and technical advisor and subject matter expert in analyzing historical/current operations to develop relevant force projection and deployment information products. Responsibilities Collect information on military readiness to investigate force projection, deployment, and transportation concerns. Seeks areas to improve lethality and survivability from historical, institutional and current experiences, operational and technical experts, the technology base, academia, and private industry. Assess Army force projection and deployment planning requirements using military systems and processes. Evaluate capability needs in terms of doctrine, training, leader development, organization, materiel, and the Soldier (DOTMLPF-P). Serves as a senior Military Analyst and technical advisor and subject matter expert in analyzing historical/current operations to develop relevant force projection and deployment information products. Responsible for concepts, doctrine, tactics, techniques and procedures, as well as force structure to support the future force projection Army during early entry operations. Conducts research of historical documentation to extract pertinent data during crisis response operations (to include humanitarian assistance, civil assistance operations, and lessons learned from foreign and/or US operations). Identify gaps and develop options and alternatives on the deployment processes, including deployment information system functions; recommend solutions for consideration at Army and Joint General Officer-level forums. Prepare correspondence related to deployment/redeployment and force projection to inform leaders at all levels and assist in decision making. Provide input to higher level for recommendations of doctrine, regulation, and policy to increase Army force projection and deployment readiness. Present information briefings to senior leaders as required. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience directing and executing force projection and deployment/re-deployment process analysis; interpreting force projection data; conducting deployment process research, analysis, experimentation; preparing and presenting executive level correspondence to senior leaders and leading projects and teams in support of organizational mission and goals. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Planning and Evaluating Requirements Analysis Written Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
