ENGIE Power and Gas (EP&G) is responsible for managing the retail portfolio of natural gas in North America. The Mid Office role is responsible for monitoring transactions and deals primarily driven by necessity of customer transactions falling between front office and back-office needs. Mid office acts coordinator and conduit between front and back-office functions at multiple levels including customer, pipeline, and utility needs. The Mid Office is critical in communicating between the various functions while allowing each to perform at its highest level and execute on their respective strengths.


This role will report to the VP of Natural Gas Pricing & Portfolio Management and can sit in Houston, TX or Woodmere, NY. This role is eligible for our hybrid work-from-home and in-office work schedule.


What you’ll do:

  • Compare scheduled pipeline volumes to monthly transportation statements to ensure accuracy
  • Perform ad-hoc functions and perform other duties as assigned
  • Perform confirmations, and assist with special projects such as transaction analysis, reviewing whether contracts match up with trades and contract routing
  • Coordinate between Scheduling and Trading to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Analyze information, collect and cross-reference supporting documentation to prepare/review A/R, A/P schedules, documents, and reports
  • Participate in teams involved in the design, development, testing, and implementation of automated systems, while reengineering processes and new requirements
  • Review gas supply and transportation invoices to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies in the payment of vendor invoices
  • Assist with billing reconciliations and bill tests for the billing group
  • Ensure accurate recording of revenues/costs and resolve any errors in the transport counterparty reconciliation process
  • Obtain customer usage files monthly from various pipelines and utilities to load, review, and check volumes
  • Contribute to the development of the Mid Office team and to the positive working environment of ENGIE
  • Prepare volume variance analysis and projections
  • Ensure pipeline and utility invoices are billed and accurate revenues are recorded

What you bring:

  • Knowledgeable of job functions across front and back office for coordination
  • Resourceful ability to use a variety of tools, data sources, and systems; and inherent curiosity to procure and test new resources
  • Collaborator with ability to work well with others. Open to feedback and debate
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Confident in debating and defending analyses and perspectives
  • A focus on deadline driven project management skills for cross-organizational coordination
  • Strong experience in mid office functions in the retail natural gas energy markets (familiarity with the minimum of at least one major NY market and one major Midwest natural gas market)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of general business experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in mid office functions, preferably dealing with risk in Natural Gas Retail Supply books
  • Excellent structuring, organizing, and presenting skills
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master’s degree preferred
