Description

Duration: one year assignment to start - with possible extensions


Title: Microbiologist


  • Drug screen, background check and will be required


Worker Shift Start Time


AM - 08:00 AM



  • Responsible for standard microbiological lab equipment specific to research expertise, including basic maintenance.
  • Design, develop and implement in-vitro assays to study the interaction of beneficial microbes and microbial communities relevant to agriculturally relevant crops such as corn, soybean etc.
  • Provide general assistance to standard molecular biology workflow such as DNA extraction, quantification, microbiological workflow such as growing microbes in lab, CFU (Colony Forming Unit) estimation
  • Implement in-vitro assays to validate specific mode of action of microbiological products.
  • Contribute to the overall improvement of microbiology functional platforms, collaborate with other R&D functions.
  • Design and implement methods for elucidating enzyme/metabolite activities of microbial origin.
  • Make oral and written reports/presentations from assays to enable stakeholders to make appropriate decisions
  • Assist in the development of new lab assays to support various projects as needed.
  • Secure IP Protection.
  • Ability to operate microscope and acquire images from microscope is highly desired but noy essential.
  • Provide assistance in developing novel or improving implemented protocols for evaluating plant-microbe interactions.


Qualification & Competencies:


  • Relevant experience in the beneficial plant microbe interaction, soil science, soil microbiology, microbial biology, Plant Molecular Biology and/or closely related fields
  • B.S. with minimum of 4 + years of relevant experience in the Microbiology/Molecular Biology or M.S. with 1+ years of relevant experience.
  • Capable of working both within a group and independently on assignments. Flexibility and being a team player is essential for this function
  • Effectively communicate (written and verbal) research findings.
  • Experience in microscopy is highly desired but not essential
  • Scientific background in Biologics or related field and experience with interdisciplinary approaches to solve scientific challenges
