Job Summary:

Michelle Thomas, Director of Student Engagement and Diversity at the Farmer School of Business is hiring 5 counselors for a camp that starts July 20-22, 2023. Pay rate is $500. Camp targets underrepresented high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. Counselors will stay overnight in a residence hall Thursday night and Friday night, July 20 and July 21 respectively. During the 3 days, counselors will escort campers to various dinners, lunches, presentations, workshops, and activities. Counselors will attend the dinners and lunches with the accounting firm executives and representatives. Event concludes on Saturday, July 22 in the late afternoon at which time chaperones will be dismissed. Interviews for the 5 positions will be conducted. Essential Duties:

Miami Accounting summer program is designed to introduce 30 multicultural high school students from Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus and Cleveland area to Farmer School of Business and Miami University. Students must apply and write a brief essay to be considered by the accounting firm executives. Accepted students will be sponsored by the top 4 accounting firms. All lodging and food will be covered by the accounting firms so students may attend the camp at no cost. During the three days, students will participate in branding workshops, social media presentations, team-building exercises, and leadership development presentations. In addition, participants will learn about the accounting profession and how to apply to Miami University. See short video about the camp- https://youtu.be/rkgw8fx-69o



Minimum Qualifications:
  • Farmer School of Business Student
  • Selected students will need to pass a state of Ohio fingerprinted background check.
