Job Title: Manager Wheat & Specialty Procurement

Job Location: Hershey, PA

Summary:

Position would be directly responsible for leading Hershey’s Wheat procurement as well as manage several specialty ingredient categories.

Primary responsibilities:

Supplier Relationship Management: Build strong risk management and service strategies with approved suppliers to obtain high-quality, low-cost ingredients which support the Hershey brands. Negotiate supply agreements / contracts with suppliers. Create and Maintain documentation (including but not limited to: Continuity plans, supplier segmentation, supplier scorecards). Maintain and monitor financial viability for suppliers of assigned categories to reduce the risk to HSY. Resolve service risks through prompt action and external/internal communication.

Market Leadership: Develop an understanding of the assigned categories and the supplier base. Develop risk management strategies using futures & derivative tools that ensure price visibility aligns to company’s business plans. Understand and articulate supply/demand, cost drivers, competing industries, supplier options, regulatory environment, and ensure our sourcing strategies support our current and future needs. Report market status to leadership as needed through regular updates, strategic plan cycle, and standard cost setting. Communicate pertinent information on the market to other functional areas such as QRC, R&D, Plant Ops, and Manufacturing Alliances.

Collaboration: Lead the partnership with Supply Chain, R&D, Manufacturing, and other appropriate departments to identify and lead innovation sourcing and continuous improvement such as cost savings, quality improvements, alternate supplier qualifications, supplier diversity, and working capital improvement. Minimize supplier proliferation and drive key Supply Chain 2.0 deliverables for Wheat & Specialty Ingredients.

Analytics/metrics: Accountable for supplier measurement and performance of assigned categories and suppliers. Lead regular meetings with strategic and critical suppliers to review & manage metrics that include but are not limited to CI, purchase price variance (PPV), on time / in full (OTIF), cash flow, inventory, waste, and quality performance.

• SAP knowledge

• Willingness and ability to travel to meet suppliers/brokers and attend conferences.
• Strategic mindset - Translates information and data into recommendations and actions. Sets strategic goals based on insights and with key deliverables and clear business benefits.
• Intimate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Financial acumen and experience connecting work to top and bottom-line initiatives.
• Able to work under pressure which may include occasional weekend and evening communications.
• Agile and flexible to changing demands and workload to ensure timely results.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• 5-7 years knowledge/relevant experience in materials management, sourcing or procurement and related supply chains.
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, Economics or related field of study, or equivalent experience, required.
